This week, I was interviewed by three Turkish journalists for an international news channel while in Lyon. When I told them I don’t visit Turkey as it’s not safe for me to do so as an outspoken critic of president Erdoğan, they told me they don’t either because “it’s not safe if you’re a journalist”. It’s easy to despair about the state of things in Turkey but it gave me tremendous hope to see them trying to reach the Turkish public with alternative viewpoints and sacrificing greatly to do so.
@aral Glad to hear that it went well!
@skynebula Yeah, before I met them I was rather cautious and asked to meet in public at the conference (refusing their invitation to visit them in their building). Better safe than sorry.
@aral You did great!
