Aral Balkan

I can order a burger for delivery within half an hour but I can’t see a doctor.

Take a fucking bow, capitalism.

@aral what? You anti-American child-eating communist. Go to North Korea just because you criticise something.

@aral Take a bow greedy and corrupt entrepreneurs that value profit above all else. Also to be fair, nearly anybody can start a restaurant and sell burgers. Doctors have always been in demand, and there are not now, or ever before, enough people becoming them to meet demand. That really doesn't have anything to do with capitalism.

@booster Yeah, I can’t imagine how capitalism has anything to do with doctors being underpaid and stretched to the breaking point. I asked the conservative government here what they thought and they said the problem was too much socialism. So, there you go, that’s me told.

🤷‍♂️

@aral @booster weirdly enough any social democracy and social market with a functioning healthcare system had a much better response to the pandemic too.... Gotta be because they're the only ones doing capitalism right!!
@aral Absolutely. I thought we were talking about docs in the US. They are certainly NOT underpaid. They are some of the most well paid professions there.

@booster Oh, let’s not even start with the US. As far as I’m aware, the US doesn’t have healthcare, it has an insurance industry.

@aral As an American who has lived in Germany for 13 years, I can understand what you mean, but at the same time I've experienced the "better" system that supposedly Europe has. I can tell you that while healthcare is expensive in the states, I have never had to wait months to see a specialist. I've never had to wait weeks to be seen for non-life threatening issues. I've never had to share a hospital room with others regardless of health issues. All of these things I've experienced in Germany. So while there is massive room for improvements in the US health care system, I'm not in a rush to get European style healthcare either.

@booster And what’s it like for people without your ability to afford the best in private healthcare?

@booster @aral “I can tell you that while healthcare is expensive in the states, I have never had to wait months to see a specialist. I've never had to wait weeks to be seen for non-life threatening issues.”

As an American living in America for the past 13+ years, I can tell you that your claims, as stated, are highly suspect. Health care’s gotten worse for many people in the last 13 years due to insurance company greed + politics.
