This morning’s talk at the University of Southampton.

@aral Just started watching the talk but I have to give props on the quality of presentation. Very natural and easy to follow while looking great at the same time. Absolutely top class 👏.

@zabbeer Thanks. Apologies for the slightly sub-par audio, by the way, I think the university link wasn’t properly muted (and my room doesn’t have the best acoustics to begin with; still working on improving that) :)

@aral @zabbeer its certainly looks great, not sure what we may have done audio wise our side I deffo turned off the mic input on the ATEM mini pro which was connected to the rode go microphone our end maybe it was some power humming or something as I didn’t turn it off :( I wanted roving mic … though I was the only one to rove 🤣

@aral @zabbeer oh it could have been the fact I hardware muted but I didn’t press mute in the browser. Which the eagle eyed will spot was Brave which I never use but safari doesn’t like owncast and Firefox my main browser has too many tabs I was worried 🤔🤣🤦🏻‍♂️

@adamprocter @zabbeer Yep. Don’t worry about it, I should have checked but wasn’t hearing it in my in-ears :)

@codythedragonrude You could be more constructive, no need for the attitude.

Though I was wondering @aral why have you chosen Vimeo instead of something like Peertube? I know you livestream on Owncast. No room on the server?

@aral The visuals are amazing! May I ask how you create your presentations?

@sphinxc0re Thanks + sure (been meaning to blog it, just haven’t had time). Nutshell:

- Atem Mini Pro to Streamyard to Owncast.
- Overlays: in slides.com on green background. Green-screened on camera via macro fired via Stream Deck using companion app
- Screen: green wallpaper, greenscreened again via macro
- Also using vicreo listener to control steamyard via stream deck

I think that’s the summary. Camera is Sony a6400 with 1.4f sigma lens.

@sphinxc0re (To align the overlays, I have the system running with the presentation machine presenting from slides.con while I edit on my main machine on slides.com – I get a slightly delayed live view in my Atem multiview.)

Hth :)

Was there an explanation elsewhere for the choice of video host service?

@aral@mastodon.ar.al great talk and very nice setup ^^
yeah, i get what you say about ccc or techy/nerdy ppl. sometimes we are just to proud not to be 'mainstream' ^^v
