Folks, you might want to block @FediTips@bungle.online so people don’t get confused as it’s a parody account but is refusing to mark itself as such.

The original account, @feditips@mstdn.social, does great work in sharing information about the fediverse and I’d hate to see it negatively impacted in any way by this.

If you are parodying another fediverse account, don’t be a douchebag and mark your account as a parody.

@aral@mastodon.ar.al @feditips@mstdn.social
We did mark it, and it's disappointing that you're ignoring the valid criticisms people have for that account, which routinely misleads people, and insults hard-working admins.

@aral@mastodon.ar.al @feditips@mstdn.social The fediverse is more than just mastodon, and different software != bad people. This account is just a response to our valid criticisms being ignored.

@aral @feditips

Yes, bumped into that too, immediately blocked. Pretty tasteless.

@freeplay @feditips @frankie Not seeing “alleged parody” in the bio on my end. Bio cache? When I asked them if they’d include a “parody” notice, I got a sarcastic brush off.

@aral @freeplay @feditips @frankie

If "parody" is not in the account name description there's bound to be confusions, with same, same avatar.

@frankie Don't think that's the case, probably just blocked on your instance

@austin @frankie Bio updates? I don’t believe they are blocked. But @mastohost had to restart my instance last time bios were not updating.

Bio updates are an essential feature. I don’t see why there’s even the option to block them.

@aral no I think they meant that the account was banned (on their instance)

@aral I love your subtle irony and dry humour. Because obviously you are joking.

@aral Stop pulling my leg, you’re beating a dead horse now.

@mike Dude, you’re the one who belly-flopped into my mentions. Now, go away.

@aral You really can’t grasp irony, can you?

@aral If you don’t want people to comment on the things you say, don’t say them.

@aral @feditips @FediTips Their profile is mentioning parody now, now sure how long ago they made the change.

@hypolite@friendica.mrpetovan.com @aral@mastodon.ar.al @feditips@mstdn.social We had to add that because some people can't understand """quotes like these""" as being sarcastic, nor can they read the fucking room.

@hypolite@friendica.mrpetovan.com @aral@mastodon.ar.al @feditips@mstdn.social we have many personalities:
- measured negotiator
- spiteful shitposter

since you people refuse to listen to anything we say, and outright ignore our comments that "hey, not all pleroma instances are bad", we have to resort to this. go unrot your brain.

@aral @feditips @FediTips You do understand the shitposter is completely undermining the negotiator, while the negotiator will never make the shitposter relevant, right?

@hypolite@friendica.mrpetovan.com @aral@mastodon.ar.al @feditips@mstdn.social and again, our point of "not all pleroma instances are bad and you guys are overgeneralizing" gets ignored. like clockwork.

@aral @feditips @FediTips Next time try without the "go unrot your brain" or better yet, ask whether I subscribe to this trope first, it may avoid this kind of misunderstanding.

@FediTips@bungle.online @feditips@mstdn.social @aral @hypolite I never understood why we can't all be polite by default. Sarcasm is almost always counter productive and is almost always used in bad faith.

If you intentionally antagonize your followers you're doing something wrong.

@aral @feditips @dusnm @FediTips I can understand the frustration of putting a specific message out there and not seeing any meaningful change as a result. It's a rather naive approach but it can get to anyone. Once the frustration bubble reach a breaking point, there's no productivity goal anymore, only venting.

@FediTips@bungle.online @feditips@mstdn.social @aral @hypolite And regarding your point about not all people on Pleroma being bad. Yeah, we know. It's just that the bad ones are really, really vocal. It doesn't help that Pleroma was probably created to facilitate exactly the kind of content these people produce.

I do think you guys can be legitimately funny, just, tone down the antagonism a bit. 🙂

@aral @feditips @FediTips As far as I can tell you are useful when you drop the weak sarcasm and the unwarranted edgyness like in bungle.online/notes/92bu3nutgs or bungle.online/notes/92budq6ge1

It really is a matter of choice.

@hypolite I don't get it, its a parody account, why do you want them to "behave" when they are just joking around?

@joel They aren't just joking around, after all they ended up updating their profile after the callout. I believe they just are frustrated and misguided. They have good points but they cover them with a counter-productive layer of sarcasm and provocation which ends up being the only thing that stands out.

@hypolite Yeah, I do agree they were probably trolling with bad intent, but after checking some posts its not like they would have made someone post their password by mistake or something like that. So even if its annoying they didn't do anything harmful as far as I can tell.

@joel On the contrary, I believe they are trolling with good intent, but it must be one of the worst way of getting your point across.

@aral I wondered what was happening there, ty for clarifying. Also the hashtag is trending and that is confusing matters.

Tbh the original feditips account is worse than the parody for new members
