Be careful ordering the new from Systems.

If their system declines your credit card, it still places a pre-authorisation for the full amount into your bank account – thereby reducing the balance of your account for the full amount. The authorisation is for a whole month and so you cannot touch that money for a month.

I called and spoke with them and they told me there’s nothing they can do on their end and my bank won’t investigate unless they take the money.

Right, so I just put in an order, selected their invoice option at checkout and was able to transfer them the money via IBAN in seconds. Wish I’d done that from the start.

*Phew!* That was way harder than it needed to be.

(Again, I’ll update you all if/when they get back to me let me know the issue with failed transactions resulting in preauthorisations is fixed. Until then, if you’re going to pre-order the , I’d highly recommend you pay by invoice.)

So, after all that, I’m back to being very excited about my early(ish) birthday present (it doesn’t ship for another two months).

I have some very neat plans for this little tablet… hehehe!

:awesome:

@morpheo I don’t really plan on drawing with it so I’d much rather it was optimised for my fingers :)

@aral
Hiya,

So it doesn't have any drawing features then...? 😢

Looking at what's out there to replace my samsung tablet S6 lite when it'll go down (it's an old one I buyed from someone).

I do sketchnoting and use it to take notes...

@morpheo

@aral I like portable stuff, but I also made the switch to ortholinear (for #dyspraxia a great thing). So I decided to replace my aging Lenovo #ThinkPad x220 by a refurbished Dell Latitude 5290 2in1 tablet. I am quite happy with it. I am typing this with this "old" tablet running Ubuntu 22.04 with an ortholinear 47 keys keyboard.

Of course the #StarLite is a nice modern alternative.

@mattias @aral I still use my x220 tablet although it's showing quite a bit of wear now - and a crack in the screen means I can't use the touch screen any more :'( I'm currently typing this on a Pinetab-V (RISC-V tablet) but this is nowhere near ready for the mass market yet and the first usable GUI Linux ported to it just came out very recently for it - Let's see in a couple of years...
