@autiomaa Correction: Google never was a librarian. To say otherwise is hugely offensive to actual librarians and libraries everywhere.

@aral For sure, but even a "librarian" is more accurate description of the past version of Google Search, compared to what it became in the past decade.
Few decades ago, a person (with good connections to international technology companies) told how most of the early search engine companies had early stage funding from intelligence agencies. Because it made sense for both sides of the business. Consumers were just a side effect. It's literally a commercial surveillance, with integrations.
