Don’t you just love it when an anonymous American (you know, the folks who bomb Brown countries) labels you—a white-presenting guy with two Middle Eastern parents—as someone with “marginalized European ethnic identity” (hey, fellow Turks, now we know what we are because some asshole American just learned us; ain’t that great?)

Aral - life is too short to spend it with people you don't like. IRL we have to make compromises because it's a physical space.
Presumably the admin mirrors the rest of the server. From what I've seen the admin behaves like a typical Reddit user:
they want debates just to validate their premise that their prejudices are philosophies. The whole "two-sides" shit sandwich, where space lasers are a logical answer for global warming.

I wake up every morning and try to work towards making a positive change in the world. I’m by no means fucking perfect. I’m by no means always right. And I’m constantly trying to learn and do better. But to have some asshole on a crusade to get you blocked from the fediverse while dictating what your identity is from across a fucking ocean sheltered behind the world’s largest military… it bloody rubs me up the wrong way.

I don't think you're going to get blocked, rather I think that admin just earmarked themselves for quite a few server admins blocklists

@aral Ah, yes, Europe, where Turkish Germans have zero problems! Certainly no issues getting into university-track high schools because of the vibes-based entrance system. Definitely no problems getting tech jobs. Zero difference between “organic potato” pale Germans and Germans with “migration background”. Just complete gratitude for rebuilding a country with a shortage of men between 18 and 40 for some mysterious reason.

The american "left" are very fond of their shibboleths and convoluted ideas about identity. It is infuriating enough for me who usually see it from the sidelines. I can't even imagine how it is to be identitysplained by one.
What you said about twitter is true. It is a nazi bar that also pays horrible people (like the famous british pimp and misogynist arrested in Romania) to post there. If you stay on twitter, you help to keep the bar open.
@aral by the way, this also highlights a problem which has been hiding in plain sight for years (decade?): communities existing purely on Twitter or Facebook, with no presence, visibility and reach outside of that.
People have been ignoring that since ever.
And then, you find yourself locked in a nazi bar you cannot leave because you do not exist out of the nazi bar.
(There's also a problem with govt agencies only using socials to communicate with people, but that's a, slightly, different story)
@aral that's also been an issue when Facebook or Twitter closed down (rightfully or not) pages of activist groups. You simply cannot rely on a corporation to be your primary and, even worst, only presence on the network.

issue is once you're locked in that mechanism, by your own choice, there's no way out.

This is, apparently, the same person I got into a dustup with a few
years ago. When I shared my experiences as a blind Linux user,
they belittled me and eventually resorted to tossing slurs like "bro"
at me and insulting me on account of my geographical location (I was posting
from pdx.social).
It was distressing enough that I left Fedi for a couple years.
Someone may even have receipts. Not me though.
But yes, this person is a scold with a massive superiority complex,
and the facts (them claiming to be able to speak authoritatively about
your identity) are totally aligned with my experience of them.

Like when they need to explain Russian colonialism to Ukrainians and Eastern Europeans, or monopolising the race critical discourse only through the lens of American BIPOC, dismissing altogether how racism, imperialism, and orientalism manifest in many way in other part of the world with different histories.
