Peak neoliberalism is using Black people to condone the genocide of Brown people.
@aral I remember a passage from a podcast (in French, and I can't find it anyway) where a researcher spoke about whiteness, and took the example of the arrival of the Irish in the United States. She explained that at the time the Irish were not considered white in the sociological sense of the term, and that one way to integrate was to be even more racist than whites.

@aral You know, Aral, we Jews come in all colours, from Ethiopian black through Yemeni brown and North african tan and all the way to Slavic blond and white.
We know what genocide is. We've been through 1 or 2. The attackers are still out and about and have said again and again they will do it again and again. We believe them because they are terrorists, and they are clear about preferring martyrdom over freedom and life.
What would you different in this situation?

WHY do you believe that being a Jewish state grants Israel a special licence to unilaterally decided that millions of people dont count as human and therefore it doesn't matter if they are exterminated because they fought back?
If you CANNOT ACCEPT THAT EVERY MEMBER OF THE HUMAN SPECIES IS ENTITLED TO EXACTLY THE SAME RIGHTS
@ia42 @aral there's a lot of mental gymnastics packed in this post :
- Somehow "not all Jews are considered white" (legitimate statement) is a counter to "Palestinians get hate from being considered brown"
- Somehow people who know what genocide is, can't possibly be committing it
- Justifying Israel's actions by solely looking at the terrorists among their targets. Israel didn't kill 20K Hamas soldiers, it kills civilians first and foremost. What did the civilians do ?

Hamas are killing Israelis to kill Jews. On the way they killed and abducted Israeli Muslim Arabs, Thais, Filipinos and a few other foreigners.
IDF goes into Gaza to kill Hamas, because a country has a responsibility to PROTECT ITS CIVILIANS after decades of missile and bomb attacks. It is not a war against all Gazans' just the Hamas, but guess what? They hide under the civilians and won't come out when asked nicely.
So how do you end terrorism with 0 collateral deaths?

Also, if you are set to commit genocide, you want maximum kills per bomb dropped, so we must really suck at it.
- we warn people to evacuate.
- we guarded them with tanks on the way south when Hamas shot them for leaving them exposed.
- our civilian:combatant ratios are about 2:1, way better than the usual 4:1 or worse that other armies have achieved in other conflicts.
Also, the Gazans feel free enough from Hamas to protest now, and they are protesting Hamas and not us.

Now I am personally sad and angry about the number of deaths in Gaza, I wish we could prevent this, I wish we had different governments for the last 25 years that made this situation so much worse, but I will not accept you calling this a genocide. That word carries a completely different set of intentions and repercussions, and should not be thrown about this lightly.
Assad slaughtered over 500K of his own Syrian civilians, no army hiding under them, THAT was genocide.
@ia42 @aral "0 civilians deaths" is not a reasonable standard for any conflict. "Don't *mass* murder civilians" is one though, just like "don't starve civilians to death" "don't target active civilian hospitals" "don't forcefully displace population as a weapon of war" etc.
In other words, don't commit war crimes. Yes, even if "maybe there are combatants under this hospital".

@aral I am brown and I don't consider it anywhere near "genocide" (it's war).
Palestine has kidnapped people from the music festival, and they should be pushed to surrender them till every individual isn't safely returned.
This isn't about white, yellow or brown -- it's about what illegal agencies such as Hamas/Palestine can't do in 2023/24. And if they do, what could be the outcome.
