Billionaires are cancer.
I won’t be taking questions at this time.
@aral@mastodon.ar.al oi, that's insulting to cancer
@aral unlike billionaires, cancer can be benign.
Nothing I need to ask.
@aral
If markets were competitive and taxes were fair, we'd still have a few people with extraordinary wealth, but we would have no billionaires.
@bobwyman Maybe we need a better framework for guaranteeing the welfare of humanity than markets. Human rights, perhaps? Democracy? I find it a failure of imagination to believe commerce is the pinnacle of human achievement. We can be so much more than glorified fishmongers.
@aral
Every attempt to find an alternative to markets has failed. Rather than trying to replace markets, we should be working to better regulate the markets we have.
@aral@mastodon.ar.al Yes. Cancer spread and corrupts other organs of the society, they even make people think "to success is to become a billionaire".
@aral@mastodon.ar.al Or should we say capitalism is a cancer and billionaire is just one symptom of it?
