Capitalism is an economic theory that posits that a relative handful of greedy fucks gorging themselves is how we provide adequate nutrition to the population at large.
@aral capitalism is an economic theory. The rest is human behaviour coupled with the inability of the people to think in social terms. I think that the people who still vote for the type of capitalism being practiced today, in most countries, is because they can become rich, without consideration for everybody else.
@nfilipes @aral I don't think the majority of people are "unable to think of people in social terms", that sounds a bit too neoliberal for me. It presupposes that the "Homo Economicus" is an accurate description of humans, when it just describes the few greedy leeches we all (ought to) despise.
People have been convinced to vote for the "capitalism being practiced today" through an army of pseudoscientific think-tanks, lobby groups, bought-up media giants who redirect dissatisfaction to culture war topics, and the current economic education which just imposes neoliberalism as a natural science.

Your original post reminds me of this one; which has been living in my head rent-free (pun intended).

@hertg I'm not smart enough to debate
But I admit that you have a point. We all have different life experiences in different countries and I don't think there's a "one size fit all" for the entire human population.
@nfilipes oh I didn't intend to start a debate or directly question you in any way. Sorry if it came off as an attack. Your comment just reminded me of my own opinions, some of which I've revised a little over the years. But it's not about who's right or wrong, just couldn't resist on commenting and pointing out some conflicts with my current worldview, and give some pointers as to why.
