@aral @rozumbrada I like how the so-called opponents of genocide always completely ignore the actions of the terrorist organisation Hamas and try to give the impression that Israel is not reacting to anything.
Edit: Funny how reports come in on this status that I approve of genocide and war. Neither, I don't like what Hamas or Netanyahu are doing. But simps with a black and white view of the world see this as support for genocide.

@michal @aral @rozumbrada if you think what happened in Israel and Gaza are in any way similar, you might be the one with a black and white, good/bad, binary view of things. The scale of devastation in gaza is not at all comparable or similar to Israel. Both are terrible, yes. But one was stopped in a day. The other will continue indefinitely, dozens of thousands dead and millions displaced later.
@johnstonphilip @aral @rozumbrada Last year's attack was an overflowing pot of problems that have existed between Palestine and Israel for decades. And because of that, the whole thing is so confused that it is impossible to point to one single point of the problem and evaluate the whole situation accordingly.
In my view, the situation is so bad that it has no good solution and one has to choose from among the bad solutions.
@michal @aral @rozumbrada agree, and I choose to not abandon peace. I do not chose war. Israel can and should be able to defend itself, but it does not need to annihilate an entire people group, because that only expands to Iran next. Peace is the only option. Peace does not come from violence. Imagine if Israel built a proper hospital in Gaza instead of destroying them. Instead they escalate indefinitely with no plan for peace.
@johnstonphilip @aral @rozumbrada I wish it worked that way. If Israel stops bombing, will that mean that Hamas will stop attacking Israel? I don't believe so. The fundamental idea of Hamas is to destroy Israel. The Palestinians must get rid of Hamas and only then will peace work.
@michal @aral @rozumbrada getting rid of Hamas is a fools errand. You would have to kill literally everyone in Gaza because Israel is GROWING Hamas right now. If you can’t see that bombing kids makes their parents upset, I have a hard time understanding you. Peace is the only way. Also, Israel has other ways of defending itself, like the iron dome and its decades ahead military. The fact that Hamas broke through their barrier should be an embarrassment on Netanyahu.
@michal @aral @rozumbrada and I’m not proposing they just “stop bombing”. I’m proposing they reach out in friendship. Build a hospital, teach them to farm well, help them be self sufficient. Israel doesn’t even consider friendship, but Gaza and Hamas are only the tip of the iceberg. What’s next, Iran? Syria? If you wiped out all of Gaza, those countries would be pretty mad. Peace is the only way
@michal if that 'not in a vacuum' were a real argument, we need to go back to when the Palestines were first denied their human rights, and driven from their homes. Quite telling you 'forget' to include that too. @aral @rozumbrada
@michal But what's even worse is the fact you argue that killing people enmasse is fine, as long as you find a casus belli. Doesn't matter if the ones paying the ultimate prize are innocent of all crimes.

Yes, it is a massacre, yes, there are certainly war crimes going on, but to call it genocide is very superficial. I don't think Israel's goal is to exterminate all Palestinians (as opposed to the fundamental idea of Hamas, which IS to exterminate all Israelis).

How fascists like you always give Israel the right to defend itself, while denying the Palestinians the right to do the exact same.
