Israel just wounded almost 3,000 Brown people and killed others, including a 10-year-old girl, in a terrorist act. Hundreds of the wounded are in serious condition and will likely also die. No, it wasn’t “stunning”, you sick journalist fuck. And no, I don’t give a shit about your in-depth technical analysis, you asshole. I’ve had just about enough of white folks watching Brown people die like it’s an action movie. Are you even capable of understanding that they’re people? Where is your humanity?
@aral i just watched an episode of black mirror with my daughter and this is just infinitely worse than anything in there
@pvonhellermannn Charlie Booker literally stopped writing Black Mirror because reality outpaced his ability to write dystopian fiction.
@fifilamoura yes, was just thinking about this too. Also #YearsAndYears - so prescient and good in so many ways, but what has actually happened, already, now, in 2024, is so much worse: We just sprinted through all that
Something truly big and awful is going to happen to Israel soon.
Up till now they've been dealing with religious fanatic idiots who are cunning, but not super smart. But with the latest Gaza war they have pissed off a population that does actually contain geniuses.
@aral A horrible fascist crime !!!!!!!!
@aral I noticed as a kid in the early aughts that all the big expensive shooting video games were changing from enemies looking like nazis to enemies looking like the adult version of the kids I was growing up with.
Long term propaganda effects, I guess, in a thousand different ways.
@aral To whom do you refer? They're not on Fedi, are they?
@LydiaConwell I don’t use any other social media so…
@aral I've blocked some ppl tonight for saying shit like - Israel pulled a brilliant counter terrorism move.
I won't tolerate racists who admire/support Israel state sponsored terrorism.
@PhoenixSerenity @aral The Media complicity is shocking trading fire as if there hasn't been an aggressive goading by the zionist project
Apparently it's only terrorism when Brown people do it.
@PhoenixSerenity @aral Yup. I’ve blocked merrily today. Sadly, these weeds always pop up again.
@aral people, humans, kids, are dead I dont understand how peopel can just be all like, its no where near me so i doant care. If one more light go's out in the sky of of a million stars.
Truth be told, as awful as the attack was, I'm shocked that the western media returned the "Middle-East Crisis" (as they call it) to the headlines after months of very rare reports getting them. It's almost as if people accepted that people dying there en masse is just a fact of life. Which is terrible.
@aral
I like the name "brown people". I'm not sure you'd be able to tell the difference between "a typical Israeli" and "a typical Lebanese" (whatever those two things mean).
It would be nice if that specific group of "brown people" (The Hezbollah, not the people of Lebanon) would stop shooting rockets that are generally aimed at military targets but miss all too often and hit civilians.
According to Hezbollah, those pagers were carried by Hezbollah people.
@christopherd @aral you don't have to be very brown to be brown in some people's eyes...
@christopherd Tell me again how to define Brown, white man.
@aral @christopherd For starters you have to believe in a thing called ‘race’. And 70 years of DNA research has shown that that is a bit of a lie.
Humans differ in genes for about 0.1%
You look like your parents. Not like a member of your ‘race’.
In February of 2001, Craig Venter, president of Celera Genomics, commenting on the near-completion of the human genome project, said that “we are all essentially identical twins”.

@aral One (Norwegian) paper reported that the Israelis are mightily impressed by their superiors' ability to do this.
@aral In the same report, an "expert" was sure that some intermediary had meticulously put those explosives into the pagers. No suspicion against the producer (Motorola?).
@aral Humans sadly aren't wired to feel compassion at massive scale.
The trauma is so generational here for all.
