Looks like two instances were set up recently to host fake/bot and/or spam accounts: webmasto.online and mast-serv.site. Seeing a stream of follows of what look like autogenerated accounts (128 from each, at roughly the same time, so likely the same entity is behind both). Would recommend a #fediblock
@aral Oh, those look hella sketchy, thanks for the heads-up!
@aral I also saw some from gtmastodon.online last week, though I'm not sure the server is still running.
@noeldemartin Good to know, thanks; will keep an eye out :)
@aral What's the process associated with a #fediblock suggestion? Is this a suggestion for users to block content from those instances or is there a higher level process for it? If the former, what is the best way to block that content?
I’d say it’s mainly for Admins. But lately I’ve seen many users use the tag as well.
In general, having more eyes on the fediverse is a good thing. It’s all up to each account and each server to decide who they want to block.
If you want to understand how to do it as a user, this is a good article.
@aral @Disputatore
Instances can be blocked either individually, or by the instance manager/owner(s).
