Capitalism has failed. Neoliberalism has failed. Two-party representative “democracy” has failed.
Not failing.
Not might fail.
Failed.
The sooner we realise that in places where we’re not under the yoke of fascism yet and the sooner we abandon such folly, the more of a chance we will have at staving off the worst of it and perhaps even charting a different, better, path forward.

After the fall of the Soviet Union, the west made all kinds of false statements about the inevitibilaty of #democracy.
All of it was wrong. And as we stopped working on keeping our democracy, it quickly degraded and is now slipping away.

i know this isn't your intent, but you have phrased it like you only just found out that representative democracy hasn’t been real since the before the cigarette lobby. the horse has bolted. i don't think it is useful to talk about how important it is to keep the gate closed

@aral @EUCommission we in Germany have a Deja Vu from 1933 - and it’s not surprising that so called Neoliberalism and conservatism ends in racism and fascism.
