very true.

But in this case the extend part of the embrace/extend/extinguish can be used for good: the noxious aspect of AMP is how Google handles the cache, so let's build other caches that preserve the publisher's context
(Disclaimer: my company is building one, although I don't work on that)

The funny/sad thing about this is that we don't really have to invent any new technology to work well with mobile. The Web used to be perfectly browsable with dial-up and 640x480 in 16 colors

The most accelerated mobile pages are raw ASCII text files served under gopher. But tell me who in their right mind still serves gopherspaces? I mean, make the jump already and join the Android space! Kernels are published daily here! https://source.android.com/

Simpler solution don't use google anything.
Better suggestion don't use centralized systems, github for example or even the actual design of the web.

It confuses me to see an Apple/Safari user complain about Google. I always wonder what the tolerance threshold; why complain about what you know is happening on one closed system but acquiesce about all you don't know about your closed OS..?
