My 10 year old son has wanted a Nintendo Switch forever. He's never had any sort of console (he barely even gets a go on my phone), but is beginning to feel really left out.

Should I buy the new Switch 2 or can I get away with just buying him a Switch? I don't want to spend a whole lot of money, but I don't want to buy something that'll be obsolete in months.

I know its probably not what #Nintendo is trying to compete with but... Idk, the #Switch 2's price, along with its expensive games is gonna make the Steam Deck a lot more appealing to a lot more people now I think.

Like yeah, exclusives drive the Switch's success... But, how appealing will that continue to be in this economy with some exclusives being $80+?

The alternative is a Steam Deck that can play multiple gens of consoles, and insane game prices during sales. Kinda a no brainer.

Einige physische Spieleversionen der Switch 2 werden gar nicht die Spieldaten enthalten, sondern nur eine "Game Key Card". Urgs. Ich bin heute schon maximal angefressen, wenn ich aus Versehen eine dieser Leerhüllen mit Downloadcode erwische.

Und da Nintendo wenig Hemmungen hat, seine älteren Shopserver zeitnah abzuschalten, kaufe ich dort so schon nahezu nichts digital.

Okay. Bei #Medimops
bestellen kann eins dann auch in Zukunft knicken: Luigis Mansion 3 mit Chip (Switch) bestellt. Heiß ersehnt vom Kind zum Geburtstag nächste Woche. Eben kam die Sendung, unversehrter Umschlag, leider kein Spiel enthalten, nur eine leere Hülle. Kotze.

Lese eben in die Rezensionen rein (hatte über Amazon bestellt), haufenweise negative Rezensionen von heute und gestern, dass Sachen nicht ankamen, fehlen, kaputt und beschmiert sind, eine sogar exakt wie bei uns mit fehlendem Chip. Und Kommentaren, dass Medimops nicht mehr reagiert und Rücknahme schwierig ist.
Werde also mit Neubestellung voll draufzahlen und Spiel kommt nicht mehr rechtzeitig zum Geburtstag an. Fuck.

Early morning Fortnite is my guilty pleasure. Normally, I play Zero Build, although I occasionally dip into normal Battle Royale.

Just won a Victory Royale when my opponent was caught in the storm.

As a lifelong #Nintendo enthusiast since the NES, I have never been less enthusiastic about any new platform than the #Switch2. Everything is too expensive and on top of that they're nickel-and-diming every single thing.

($80 for Mario Kart? A surcharge to play older games? An entire button that stops working if you stop paying your annual subscription? They're out of their damn minds.)

I love my #Switch, but I do not plan to upgrade to this nonsense.

I quickly wrote some thoughts about yesterdays' #Switch 2 announcement, including a few things not included in the presentation. Especially the price and physical / digital split for game cartridges.
