I just updated two dozens servers to Fedora 40. The only problem I encountered was one server that didn‘t boot up back again, because some SELinux setting was missing in /etc/fstab and therefore the service could not be started. But all in all I‘m quite happy. #fedora #fedora40

@Vivaldi Bug report:

- OS: Fedora Linux 40.20240424.0 (Silverblue) x86_64
- DE: GNOME 46.1 (Wayland)

After signing in after sleep, Vivaldi renders at @1x even though my screen is set to @2x.

(Moving the window around or resizing it, etc., re-renders it at the correct resolution.)

Today I updated to #Fedora #KDE 40 using dnf. After I log into my main user, I get a black screen (and Discord, which opens automatically). I’ve had this issue before. I’m using a Radeon card, so it’s not that Nvidia issue. And most importantly, the desktop does work with a brand new user, which means it’s something in the user configuration. In journalctl, qt.qpa.wayland: Wayland does not support QWindow:requestActivate() is a recurring error. Is this enough info? Thanks.

There’s a long-standing bug in Fedora (also in Fedora 40), where the sign-in screen is displayed at the wrong resolution (it doesn’t use the settings you have set in the Settings app).

So, for example, if you have 4K@2x set in your settings for your monitor, the sign-in screen will still display at a tiny 4K@1x.

To fix, download an app called GDM Settings from the Software app and press Display → Apply current display settings → Apply.

@fedora Good job, Fedora Project!

Fedora 40 already worked for me in the beta without any problems, and is now probably the version with the fewest problems after the official release.

Not a single crash or bug has occurred, which was never the case with earlier versions. And after all, I've been on board since Fedora Core 1 (before that Red Hat Linux). I'm thrilled! 👍 :fedora:

Many thanks to ALL the developers and people involved! ❤️

Nevertheless, it feels like a new computer (ok, it's only four months old...) when you carry out a clean install after a lot of junk data has accumulated in these few months. Be it through the beta status, through many programs and apps that you have tried out and discarded... Now everything is lean and reduced to a minimum
