And these are unattended backups via cron, where a minute or ten doesn't matter.</p><p>With Hetzner, I know that the servers are located in the EU and it's not AWS or Azure as the backend. 👍🏼</p>

Mail ists im Detail nicht ganz pflegeleicht (DNS-Settings, Spam-Handling,...)</p><p>Aber man lernt auch viel dabei 👍</p>

The reason? Your inbound traffic is being partially sent to other instances (you will be receiving other instances’ first connection packets), and your machine is not isolated at L2 level and is able to communicate with other ones (only ARP was tested)</p>

Roberto von Archimboldi<p>A little group I am part of has its own server. It hosts our website and a nextcloud instance. It is on a Hetzner machine. OK so far so good. The problem is that the person who set it up has left and I am the only one foolish enough to try to maintain it. The problem though is that I don't know how.</p><p>It is still running Debian Buster. I tried to follow a guide to at least upgrade it to bullseye, but something breaks. I think that it is something to do with its network configuration. This is mostly because I saw a comment that said if you are using a KVM Host with bridged networking, then you need to add bridge_hw eth0 (or whatever your network interface is called) to your network config otherwise the network won't start and you won't be able to reach the server. Weirdly I can SSH in after the upgrade, but the console shows lots of networky error messages and the website and nextcloud become unreachable. </p><p>Fine, I doubt any one will be able to help from that error description, but maybe you can point me at a foolproof guide to upgrading. But I am afraid of PeerTube’s consumption when it comes to bandwidth. As in: if I upload a video that for some reason becomes really popular, or if a bad actor decides to DDOS my channel, would that take down all my other self-hosted Fediverse instances? Since they are on the same VPS?</p><p>I could limit potential issues by having a dedicated VPS just for PeerTube.</p><p>What would you do?</p><p>And do you have recommendations for Europe-based VPS’s with affordable plans? Charlie O’Hara<p>Just tried to log in to a Hetzner account that I created but hadn't yet used, wanting to shift my website hosting to them. Log in didn't work. Weird - it's stored in my password manager. Did a password reset and discovered that the account had been disabled without notification.</p><p>I'd heard this a few times about them but this confirms it.
