Is GDPR worth the paper it’s printed on? According to these fine folks, “browser fingerprinting … incognito mode detection … geolocation … anonymous user detection”, etc., are all apparently GDPR-compliant without consent if done for “fraud protection.”
@aral Yep, from a legal standpoint that is true and I see indeed that it is in heavy use by Akamai and Cloudflare on most major websites (they have their own obfuscated scripts though).
Anyone want to take a look? Go to adidas and look for the script in the folder akam/11.
But still it's not allowed to use the IDs for anything other, e.g. ads.
Blocking f.fingerprintjs.com works on fingerprintjs.com itself. Is the API call different on the other sites?
