“European Commission announced … follow-up legislation that will make the use of chatcontrol mandatory for all e-mail and messenger providers.”

Guess what isn’t covered by this? Yes, the Small Web. Is it time to take the idea that we could all own our own places on the Web and communicate with each other privately seriously? I think so, at least.
@aral so, in terms of messengers, just use your own matrix server. Don't trust anybody, your data under your control.
Phew, like a banner ad. I should discuss payroll with Matrix Foundation
@aral Any way to fight against it at the random-person level? I am not a programmer, cannot create from nothing new non-spying app, but I feel the need to do something, act instead of waiting for doom. Like Snowden wrote in "Permanent Record" that he hosted TOR node after found about that all surveillance and he wasn't yet sure what to do with it... Or joining some organization or something... To be a part of something bigger, to use technical knowledge to create something...
@aral
Doesn't this exclude people whose ISPs don't allow the hosting of services?
@aral OK, I'm listening.
I've been thinking about this, too.
