@aral it kind of sucked that the guy in opposition started courting the far right after the first round. Not cool. If I was there and voting I would have felt such whiplash, no wonder his turnout dropped.
@sarajw That’s Turkey in a nutshell, sadly. Either Islamist or ultra nationalist. Take your pick. It sucks. But it’s nothing new. Those have been the only two options for as long as I’ve been alive (after the neoliberals fucked everything up, of course… sound familiar?)

something for the UK to remember when the process here is run by friends & relatives of the conservatives...
I vetoed family going to this beautiful country on holiday while Erdogan was in power, I can't see that changing.
I just hope there's no backlash given how strong the opposition vote was.
