Being back in the Netherlands and seeing Groningen, it makes me realise one of the reasons why I miss this place so much: the wealth of public spaces. The gorgeous forum with its library, care and cultivation of design/culture, the town squares, the cycling/rail infrastructure… Comparatively, with our roads jammed full of cars, towns decimated by golf courses/private land, and our heads firmly up Silicon Valley’s butt, we’re living in the dark ages in Ireland (and in the anglosphere in general.)
@aral yes, same for me. I do miss those about the Netherlands, but I do prefer the welcoming culture of Ireland (at least until recently)
Not sure if you experienced it too, but being an immigrant in the Netherlands, even a highly qualified one, it's tough
