@aral @tansy confiscating profits of polluters and realocating them for better purposes will have far more effect than prison alone - affluent well educated folk usually have enough clout to be able to do their time and be left alone and often gain "brownie points" and safety by helping other inmates with literacy and numeracy, and if they have been to boarding school (and many have) prison isn't that much of a hardship, they have already coped at an early age with being inside!
