As long as we continue to equate profit with success, we’re well and truly fucked.

@aral

Our local Food Not Bombs group has now successfully run a stall every weekend in November, and a second group is starting up in nearby location soon.

This is a good success to me.

@benx Unless your local Food Not Bombs group is a venture-capital funded startup I don’t see how this is in any way relevant to what I’m saying.

@aral I guess I misunderstood what you are saying

@benx Unless I misunderstood yours :)

@aral

Our food not bombs group is practically a moneyless operation.

Is people feeding people without any financial incentive.

Building the new world in the shell of the old. I find it inspiring.

@benx Ah, yeah, I misunderstood you, sorry. And, yeah, agree fully.

@benx @aral "Food Not Bombs" groups are perfect examples of how small communities can bring change. We had one in Łódź. Amazing, inspiring and dedicated people.

@aral just curious... what alternative measures of success would you propose instead of profit? And how could we implement those in our current economic system? should it be sth like related to fundamental rights and such values?

@deep @aral I was thanking about it for very long time. Services created by governments should be managed my LP algorithms designed to run low cost feedback loops and not waste resources on administration.

Second of all milionaires and billionaires should be taxed in the place where they operate.

Lastly every government decision would need to be apporved by gropup of independent scientists which have review process similar to current world publications.

@deep @aral current economic system supports individuals with already generated profit. Change there can be made with newly introduced laws.

I could also mention common income for everyone and focus on sustainability and not rush for advancements that exploit not only people but also earth resources. For example. You dont need iPhone 99. What you need is a law which will allow you to fix your current phone or upgrade it where recycle process is included.

@grayrattus

Mainly I agree with you, but still ~95% of ppl will tell you they want their new shitphone each year with fast fashion... while booking their next trip to that Instagram-perfect photo spot... @aral

@deep @aral exactly. That's why I don't want to live anymore 😀 life is such injustice world filled with apes in 2k$ worth shoes is something I don't want to be part of.

And also that's why I don't plan to give them more meat to grind by having a child.

@deep @aral ohh and by the way. With current advancement in science we can really research a better alternative to capitalism. Literally we can now generate whole societies and simulate how our government policies will impact economies. Noone is doing it though since people in power make decisions based on their beliefs. Not science.

@deep @aral will it ever happen? Probably not. That's why I dont plan to have kids and simply die after short, amazing life.

Have a great day!

@aral if I sell one of my kidney to a extremely rich gun - for big-bag dollars... is it a succes?
At the end of the year - there will be big sum on the chart... hm... just considering,
is it succes?

@aral

I often talk with my son and I explain him that "making money" or being "successful" aren't the only way to be satisfied with your life, and it is very difficult in a competitive environment like the US.

Anyone loves have a good salary, and there is nothing wrong to looking for a good (and honest) salary or revenue, but those can't be the only parameters that define your life.

There is a deformation in this mentality, and it is clearly a faux narrative that exists with the only goal to let the majorities of the people thinking about themselves that are in defect while doesn't meet success. It is a powerful lie, an outstanding leverage to distract people by the fact that a minority group of wealthiest is pro-actively maneuvering at any level to keep their status quo and eroding the other people wealth as much as possible.

He is still too young to grasp such complex arguments but it is enough to let him thinking if the wellness is redistribute fairly or not among the society....
