You either protect people’s human rights at a constitutional level or you don’t protect them at all. People’s identities – their very existences – are not political playthings. That this is being normalised is disgusting.
This isn’t just about the US. This can – and it looks increasingly likely that it will – happen anywhere and everywhere.
Be prepared to shut it all down if and when it does.

@magitweeter People protect people’s human rights by enacting constitutional protections is my whole point.
@aral Constitutions are words on paper. Governments have never been known to enforce constitutional protections with integrity, but rather selectively and conveniently. Depending on your constitution, it may be impossible to enforce it all with integrity, as some constitutional rights may undermine and contradict each other.
I'm all for protecting human rights, but i do not believe constitutions or governments are necessary for it.
