Also, pregnant people should think twice. The religious fervor to eliminate abortion as an option here means complications often become much more complicated than they should be allowed to and people die from it.

I agree for large swaths of the US, but #Pittsburgh in particular has been a reproductive health safe haven for people from neighboring states with bans, such as West Virginia (which has a current abortion ban) and Ohio (before their ban was removed).

I would advise travelers who are not from or familiar with rural Appalachia to avoid transiting through West Virginia if possible for a number of reasons. But pregnancy care, including abortion care, is readily available once someone reaches Pittsburgh.

@aral During the 45 era I attended a conference in the US - encouraged the organisers to run the next one elsewhere so that our colleagues from Muslim-majority countries could attend.
Now, the chance of my attending any conference in the US is roughly 0 +/- 0.0.
