What I find fascinating about Signal gate is that it shows how obsessed these guys are, even in private, with the possibility that somebody is taking advantage of them.
For Trumpists, if you're helping someone without getting paid for it, you're a sucker. It is physically repulsive to them.
This is the immature attitude of people who are incapable of love and friendship.
And it's time for me to reread Erich Fromm, because this totally fits his analysis of the authoritarian personality.
@victorgijsbers It's a fairly typical effect of the kind of media they consume which is in large part about dominance games.
@apodoxus What media are those? I never run into this kind of thing!
@victorgijsbers That's hard to explain. Media aimed at young men for self-improvement, dating and other stuff. Some of it falls into what some people call the "manosphere". A lot of it is Joe Rogan-adjacent.
@apodoxus Yeah, but surely Rubio and Vance and so on are not watching Andrew Tate? Surely?
@victorgijsbers Vance is for sure, but maybe not Tate specifically. I'm not sure why you can't read that off him very clearly. Rubio, no he has nothing to do with it.
@victorgijsbers Also, it seems you're wrong as to the specifics. He's an Andrew Tate fan.

@apodoxus @victorgijsbers Man, and there I was thinking he was a decent guy…
@aral @victorgijsbers hahahahahahaha
Take this lens and go have a look at the Zelensky fight again, you see why he reacted the way it was. It was insecurity about someone showing he was wrong in public. Vance did that, not Trump. Trump only helped later.
