You cannot advocate for privacy without advocating for the end of the colonial/imperialist mindset. Decentralisation is a prerequisite for protecting human rights and democracy in the digital network age.

@aral While I mostly agree, I think it’s important to note the decolonizing is a much more far reaching concept than decentralization (and one that I strongly support.)

@tdorey @aral I agree that decentralization is far less ambitious than decolonization, but that's possibly because decentralization alone is not enough to protect privacy - but it's an important first step.

Centralization is a tool of empire, and therefore it must be dismantled. But it's not the only tool; and imperialism will use any tool it has against privacy.
