Could it be that the “tax the rich” citizen’s initiative doesn’t have the number of votes it could because the site is erroring?
Incompetence or malice?
What transparency is there in how this voting system works? Is there a third-party audit? Published stats on how many votes are not processed due to system errors like this?

@EUCommission In case Guido’s post doesn’t load for you (I get a 401 error), also see:
@aral @EUCommission I couldn't get it to work with my digital ID (maybe because my eID is issued by my country of residence which differs from my nationality?) — but I did manage to sign with the form. I hope that counts equally.
I’m getting a DNS error, can't even reach the site.
This morning, I could reach the site, but my eID requires further manual validation...
Looks like plenty of stumbling blocks for people to abandon their intent to sign, I think.
UPDATE:
Got my eID validated in person yesterday, and today succeeded with signing the petition. At least I’m now more ready for the next one :)
@airwhale Yay :)
@aral @EUCommission So it was possible to collect signatures via third party systems - my startup run one based on our freely licensed software (we helped collect Fur Free Europe!) - but then EC banned everyone else to be a monopolist.
@aral @EUCommission does this link work as a workaround while the NL site is misbehaving?
@aral @EUCommission : is there a single petition which got the million vote treshold since this system exists?
10 years ago, same happened for UBO.
