@aral (genuine question) why are you writing the stuttering/reduplication in the alt text? it makes it a lot harder for me to read and follow what is being said and i dont see the benefit of it

(Thanks for raising the issue, by the way. I’m not sure which is better: to provide as close a representation as possible or to edit for ease of consumption. The linguistic patterns portray the emotion that you wouldn’t otherwise hear. Not sure if editing it would be paternalistic or not. Would love to hear the thoughts of more folks who use assistive technologies on this.)

for me its definitely better to make the text clean and readable, because the repetitions are one of the reasons why i went to the alt text in the first place, because they contribute to the speech being hard to follow for me
i guess the emotion could be indicated separately with text? like saying "he frequently paused and repeats words which shows that he is emotional" or whatever at the start of the transcript
