We call a person who fights cancer in people an oncologist while branding people who fight cancer in society “radical left lunatics.” I think not. Capitalism is cancer. Trillion-dollar corporations and billionaires are tumours. So, with apologies to neoliberals and fascists everywhere, I prefer to think of myself as a social oncologist.
You mind if I borrow that on occasion? That's a neat turn of phrase that makes readers think.
@VulcanTourist Not in the least (please do) :)
I had the mixed experience of working closely with oncologists for 18 mos when my son was ill.
They are wonderful people (here they make a lot of money which can mask it) and they are now: data scientists.
You metaphor still works Aral.
@aral
Very well put.
A society that contains billionaires has some things seriously wrong with it.
