Just ordered a Kobo Libra Colour so now the only money I’m paying that asshole Bezos is for a couple of S3 buckets that I haven’t had time to move off of AWS.
Very much looking forward to the time when his fascist collaborator ass doesn’t get a single euro cent from me.
(Another plus: Kobo works with Overdrive and I checked and Dublin libraries support it so you should be able to check out library books directly on the device. And I’m quite looking forward to a little bit of colour and the notetaking features.)
@aral Im so happy for my Kobo Libra Colour! Did you get a cover for it?
I've had mine for about a year or so. The Overdrive feature is so neat. I'm living in Denmark and unfortunately it only covers English literature, even though it's managed through the public libraries. They even have their own app where I can read Danish literature. Weird. Hopefully the full catalogue from your local library is available.
I use calibre to strip DRM and transfer ebooks to the device.
@royalrex Happy to hear it :) Didn’t get a cover, no (have used my Kindle for years without one and thought it would be overkill for an ebook reader… does the Kobo really need one for some reason? Do you think I should?)
@aral for protection I think it's nice. Also it has this magnetic on/off function, so doesn't feel like an extra hassle with a cover. If you also got the stylus, then it can be stored in the cover too. I have tried their fancy foldable cover, but that didn't really work as good as I wanted it. So now I have the more basic one: https://gl.kobobooks.com/products/kobo-libra-colour-stylus-case
@royalrex Thanks, that’s good to know :)
