Perhaps this explains why the biggest threat to the technological supremacy of big tech in the field of AI came from a Chinese hedge fund capitalist (Liang Wenfeng, co-founder of DeepSeek) and not from a cooperative made up of communists, socialists and left-wing anarchists scattered around the world (where's the IndyMedia for AI, for instance?)Simply saying that AI wastes energy resources and not presenting innovative solutions to reduce the current level of energy consumption is a reactionary and resigned position, which takes the current state of consolidation in the sector for granted. Like all forms of automation of human work, AI has undeniable advantages. It saves human work and, if well used, it can definitely improve the productivity of its users. AI's negative externalities are inherent to the fact that this technology was developed within strictly capitalist companies and in a mode of production exclusively oriented towards profit. Obviously, we can't deny that all these vicissitudes end up biasing the final result. What we can't do is refrain from participating in any way we can in the development of this technology, with the lame excuse that it's useless. The hundreds of millions of people who use AI-based applications for their studies, work and personal lives belie that. The problem is, I no longer trust Google nor Gemini to be an honest broker. Gemini refuses to answer political questions or do political analysis.
