RaymondPierreL3
Somewhere along the way, the idea that a community could elect a person to represent and fight for their needs and interests in an assembly of such representative elect got turned on its head. The aforementioned representation might be what was ‘sold’ to communities back in ancient Greece, and indeed, in some cases it was near enough to the truth to work (with lots of slaves and war booty) but it got corrupted very quickly and left the electorate in the lurch while the elect decide what’s good for them and their own ideas about what society should look like.

Some political factions are better than others in devolving away a fraction of their given powers to a selected portion of the communities, but mostly fail to execute for self-interest reasons. And this we call participative #democracy. What a joke.

It would go some ways to restore a modicum of #trust in our elected #politicians if only the people, the communities they represent, members of their support organisations, were all made aware of the circumstances and deliberations which led to decisions resulting in legislations, regulations and administrative outcomes. Sure that’s a lot, but govt do this internally anyway and record it all. So asking for some ‘clarity’, ‘transparency’ and ‘representation’ isn’t a big deal in any case.

The fact this is not happening (#FOI is consistently ‘gamed’ to protect questionable decisions) confirms that the ballot boxes are a convenient subterfuge for #power-mongers, #grifters, and #Bullies . That is not to say that some elected members happy about this state of affairs in our political system, but they are soon corralled and fall pray to the exclusive system. Power corrupts which ever way you look at it — it’s the ’human condition’. Money corrupts — it’s in evidence everywhere you look.

I’ll retreat to my cave now and lament my fellow human’s lack of humanity.
