Question for anyone into PostmarketOS! I got an old iPhone I’d love to give a second life. Is it an impossible dream?
Been keeping an eye on supported models, in case some genius makes a breakthrough
#Linux Weekly Roundup for June 23rd, 2025: #KDE Plasma 6.4, #postmarketOS 25.06, #Calibre 8.5, #Darktable 5.2, Qt Creator 17, #fwupd 2.0.12, and more https://9to5linux.com/9to5linux-weekly-roundup-june-23rd-2025
thanks everyone who helped make the new #postmarketOS release! they just get better and better every time.
i continue to be more and more hopeful that we will deliver on our mission to build a production ready OS, made by and for the community that continue to contribute (whether through code, reports, debugging, or donations).
we are not stopping with systemd... next up will be factory reset support, update rollbacks, EFI on qualcomm phones, immutability, and huge tooling improvements
embedded edition is also on my mind, we need better ways to build and maintain embedded systems and we absolutely have the raw ingredients
Weekly GNU-like #MobileLinux Update (25/2025): Packed with Goodies
https://linmob.net/weekly-update-25-2025/
This week really was something: #postmarketOS ship 25.06 (which, among other things, adds systemd) and work to reverse-engineer #VoLTE, #FuriOS 13.1.0 lands with Open-Store support (for #UbuntuTouch apps) and plenty of other improvements, #PlasmaMobile share detailed log of all the fixes and improvements they managed to land in the past year (and what's to come), Jolla announce free #SailfishOS updates for all #JollaC2 customers, I managed to interview #Liberux about their Nexx phone - but there's way more still, including a packed Apps section. Enjoy!

Is there a good writeup / overview on how cameras on mainline #mobilelinux work and where you can tweak things?
I'm asking because the back camera on my #pixel3a flashes and the picture sometimes freezes and I would like to look into fixing this. I just have no Idea how cameras work on linux and I'm unsure where to start.
@furilabs have you considered moving away from Github (owned by Microsoft)?
For someone like me who is looking for independence from "Big Tech", seeing that you are on Github is a really bad sign, and it makes me reluctant to contribute.
Look at others, like Gnome, Purism, postmarketOS, Mobian, and so on, they all use something else. I think they know that Github is bad for them, both in practice and in principle.
#uboot #u_boot now boots on BlackBerry Key2LE (using a android boot img and someone else's bootloader exploit)
#postmarketos is my next goal!
Thanks @cas for u-fetch to let me show off!
I mean, they have an event on June 25th and lots of Fairphone 5 models are sold out. It wouldn’t be sold out if they were still manufacturing it right?
I mean, an upgraded Fairphone will be nice probably. I’m just sad that Fairphone 5 is almost at 100% at postmarketOS but not quite there yet, and probably Fairphone 6 will need to start porting over unless it’s very similar to Fairphone 5.
The #PowkiddyX55 has a #postmarketOS device page

Doable since the #RocknixOS image was with a mainline kernel. Nice work put in for the pmOS port. It makes me daydream about a mobile workstation type device. With an external keyboard.
Well... new instance, new introduction.
Hi, I'm hexaheximal. I'm a software developer by day... and... uhh... also by night.
I use desktop #Linux as well as #MobileLinux (more specifically #PostMarketOS) quite extensively, and enjoy doing so.
Occasionally I try making things other than software projects as well, but not as frequently. I also have a blog at https://hexaheximal.com/blog, although I don't use it often.
@futurebird It's not the strangest computer I own or have access to, but it is the strangest one I use for "normal" fediverse access. It's a £100 ARM-based #PineBookPro I bought back when they were new, and installed #PostmarketOS on. It saved me in a pinch at work when I had a laptop die on me, although I definitely drove it harder than it wanted that day.
I'm running absolute nerd-bait stuff on this thing: #sway, #waybar, etc. My normal laptop is straight GNOME, usually.

Is there any documentation on how to set CJK input methods for #Phosh (with on-screen keyboard) on #postmarketOS? The input methods wiki page mostly looks at keyboards, the closest I can find is an old blog post on fcitx5 on sxmo. If it matters, I'm specifically interested in Japanese, preferably Anthy.
