NewsieTejas Harad (@h_tejas@newsie.social)My partner just created her #Threads account and the account that showed up on top as suggestion to follow was mine. However, I don't have a Threads account.
Basically, anyone who has an Instagram account, #Meta is automatically creating a shadow account for them and also allowing users to follow those shadow accounts. My partner had tonnes of follow requests as soon as she made the account.
@aral so people with an IG all have a shadow account in threads that can not be delete because they will automatically loose their IG account. Dark pattern signed meta.

@aral They have a shadow account anyway. There's a shadow account for anyone Facebooks can gather data about so they can propagate information about connections in the social graph.
The difference is that if you have a real account, you have access to the privacy controls settings.
