Hey, FediFolks: someone I respect a ton has called me in on this quip. So instead of just deleting this one, I'm going to edit this.
I'm clearly not a fan of that other platform!
But I when I pause to think about it—or am kindly prodded to think harder about it, as I fortunately have been—I can understand why folks far more marginalized than I am might need to make use of an ideologically & materially compromised platform in order to survive in our messed-up world.
Here's to working together to make a better world in the shell of the old.
@ryanrandall It’s not just an ideologically and materially compromised platform, it is one that is run by fascist billionaire who sees all conversations, including DMs, controls an algorithmic timeline and is implementing a governance mechanism where him and other fascists decide whose voices are heard and amplified on the platform. It is the opposite of a safe space, especially for marginalised communities.
