Challenge to white Europeans: “I loved you when all we were doing was fucking over Brown people in faraway lands together but now you’re attacking us and we’re white and that’s not OK, so our romance is on hold until you come to your senses and we can go back to the way things were” isn’t the shining moral stance you might think it is.

How about a little introspection? How about a little embarrassment of past and ongoing complicity? How about a commitment to human rights and justice for all? mastodon.social/@randahl/11423

Chairman Rasmussen: "We sincerely love the US and its people, and look forward to returning once the US elects a leadership of decency, respect and responsibility. […] When Trump explains his aggression towards Greenland with security, he reveals himself as a compulsive liar. […] Trump and his cronies' treatment of president Zelenskyy, the hideous pressure on Ukraine and the indecent cowering to the Russian psychopath speaks for itself."

@aral Not to mention what they do to whales. Tradition is shit talk for torture and murder of sentient beings.

@Tooden I agree with what you say but let’s not turn this into a dunk on Denmark thread. I don’t think any country fares well once you start looking at all the things that have been swept under the rug. And that’s really the point. We should all be introspective and the tribalism of nationalism itself is a huge part of the problem.

@aral Fair enough. I guess other countries just hide their worst habits.

@Tooden @aral

The whole whale-thing is the Faeroese, btw, a separate country within the Danish commonwealth. Denmark has no jurisdiction over their internal affairs.

Just like Greenland, which everyone following the news should know by now.

@EvilCartyen Denmark - according to Greenpeace - does have influence. @aral

Of course, but should we really stomp around like a colonial power and impose our morals on a millennium-old tradition in a sovereign territory? I don't think so.
