Interesting that my @mntmn laptop has been “on hold” with DHL in Cork (where I live) since yesterday morning and “The Estimated Delivery Date is currently unavailable.”
Now it probably just missed its morning shipping window yesterday as I was told and it’s not some shady government agency attempting to install a hardware backdoor or anything. But Lukas knows and can verify every component and piece of software that went into it… which is the nice thing about freedom tech… ;)
*waves*
@mntmn Laptop is now with the courier :)
@aral
It'll be interesting to see what happens should the UK crash out of the EU with a no-deal. Then your future laptops might have to pass through a third country (i.e. the UK) or things get shipped from the EU to Ireland via sea.
Implications for both security of your laptop and delivery times.
@krozruch
You're right. I wonder how these plans to directly connect Ireland with the Netherlands & Belgium are progressing. Currently, most goods go by road and therefore via the UK. Things might need to change.
