If you kill this person not a lot of people will blame you: this could be seen as self defense.

Aral, I think you have the right to express your PoV. by the same token, I think you should extend them the right to express their PoV that you don't have that right. one's right to express a PoV doesn't make one right about it
that you and I agree about their use of power being a poor an undesirable one doesn't make us right, even if we perceive an existential threat for us all, any more than they and their friends thinking of us as jerks for calling them out makes them right.
point is, I don't think that was an effective interaction in bringing them any closer to behavior we'd find more desirable. I suck at that myself, but I'm learning to identify counterproductive patterns of interaction, and I think this one you posted may well have been one :-(
