ChatGPT is, in technical terms, a ‘bullshit generator’.
@aral many people have successful careers spinning bullshit.
All jokes aside, this is an excellent article indeed.

In summary, if we consider the term bullshit in the sense given to it by Harry Frankfurt (see his book "On Bullshit", 2005), then ChatGPT fits perfectly into this definition.
@aral
So Our PM can sack the team who write the Tory party election manifestos and use ChatGPT instead then.
Wish he'd used another example of evil than social workers. My sister has rescued more children than he could count, and she uses solid evidence to choose her cases.
ChatGPT works some of the time. It passes some of the homework problems I give, but makes mistakes in others. It has given me the precise date when a living person has died, then gone on to describe the same person in detail.
It uses the verb "to be" a lot.
America elected a bullshit generator as president. Be concerned.
BTW, I don't know why he says, "it's good at answering 'What is 24 x 18?' and poor at answering 'What is 23 x 18?'" It gets both of those right.
@aral this what makes it so perfect for the corporate world, as the majority of emails and communications are sanitized bullshit.
