Had knives in my throat (not Covid, probably… at least tests were/are negative) so went to see my new GP and we ended up chatting about the OneWheel I rode in on (he took up skating later on in life and tried one in France apparently), the shit factory that is Silicon Valley (he used to be a software dev there before he became a doctor), the Small Web (he digs the idea), and, yes even my sore throat (I’m on antibiotics now). Needless to say, I like my new GP :)
@aral My eye doctor constantly tries to chat me up about Crypto. You and I live at opposite ends of the spectrum.
@benpocalypse Oh no, I’m so sorry.
@aral Yeah, it's bad. He and some other optometrists pooled their money and bought some slice of a mining operation in China. He knows I'm a software engineer so he assumes I'm into this crap.
...although he did seem to get offended when I asked him if he holds and Doge Coin ;P
@aral get well soon!
@jotbe Thanks, Jan :)
My GP formerly worked in artificial intelligence. I suspect that he thinks that mine is, though.
@aral rest up!
I like to consider the practical parallels between doctoring humans and maintaining software. Particularly where complexity of the code base has got well out of hand! Would be interesting to hear your GPs perspective.
