Also, this one will opt out of catalogs that come in the mail, but you have to enter the information for catalogs you receive. It won’t stop them from coming unless they already come.

I didn’t dig deep into this, I didn’t like the idea of giving all that information to another website, but it looks like it’s run by the “the story of stuff” project & they used to be legit, so they’re probably not trying to get our info to sell it later. But I haven’t looked at what they’ve been up to in more than a decade so don’t just trust me on this.

It’s $6 so yay! It lasts 10 years, and it’s possible I didn’t do it before because I moved a lot because I was homeless. But yeah, I’m on that today.

I might miss out on some 0% credit card offers, but I don’t need more credit cards.

All I can say is thank goodness for this election!
I use old envelopes to write shopping lists and other notes on. But my supply has been dwindling because I don’t get many letters any more.
Week 1 of the campaign and I already have enough supply to last me several months.

I got one of those unsolicited credit card offers in the mail. There is an opt-out phone number that supposedly stops these offers for 5 years from all 3 credit reporting companies. The recording gives some generic company name. #credit #creditcards #experian

But it wants me to provide my social security number.
I feel uncomfortable providing my #SSN to an automated line

Has anyone used this opt-out method? Is this legitimate? #IDtheft #junkmail #ConsumerProtection

I've just had one of those annoying pizza shop flyers put through my letterbox, despite the "no junk mail" sticker.

Still, I can convert this flyer into an actual pizza.

Admittedly I do have to compost it for 6 months, then use the compost to grow onions, tomatoes or other veggies next year, and then make a pizza at home (the best kind). But hey, its free compost material and home made pizza is sooooo much nicer than shop crap.

New hot take after spending countless hours going through years of accumulated paperwork at my elderly uncle's: every mailing that is an advertisement should be required by law to have the words "this is an advertisement" printed on both sides of the envelope or postcard, with FTC enforcement power.
The quantity of deceptive, time-wasting mailings my uncle has received is appalling. This simple law would fix that.

Black times new Roman text in two columns on a white page with a Title and author names and an Abstract header, but the only words are “get me off your fucking mailing list” repeated over and over. This fake paper was actually published in a predatory journal when the authors from New York University submitted it in 2005 as a joke. They paid to publish it when it was accepted.
