As the #SmallWeb comes closer to being a thing with the launch of Domain this year, I’d really love for it to run on maintenance-free auto-updating instances instead of Ubuntu. But it looks like I’m forced to go with it as I can’t otherwise find affordable VPS hosting that can create an instance as quickly as Hetzner can.

@netalexx Can’t do €39/mo for a 2 vCPU instance when it’s €3.85/mo at Hetzner. No one will pay €45/mo for a Small Web place (if we were to charge a tiny markup to try and make ourselves sustainable) but they might pay €10/mo.
@aral Really liking what you're doing (still). Happy to be a beta tester if you ever need any. I've tech savvy enough to know how to try but dumb enough to be able to break anything. Happy to ~£5pcm to have an instance to play with when you're ready.
@fuzzyface Thanks. Not sure we can make it work for €5/mo but that’s the point I’d love to see it at too. Who knows, maybe with deals with VPS providers in the future. (Or if folks like NLnet, etc., actually start supporting us with public funds in the future to subsidise it.)
