There is a saying in Zen Buddhism. Or I was told there was by a tai chi teacher. Chop wood, carry water. Do the basic things no matter what.

I’d add to that my own sense of grounding at the moment. Bake bread, plant trees. I try to do something simple and nurturing and that will leave a positive change.

Today I am baking my twice weekly sourdough loaf, I tended my trees and watered my garden.

I am fortunate and grateful.

please be gentle to yourself. maybe your fists are clenched real tight. maybe you have never learned how to to be kind to yourself. maybe you lose yourself inside that fortress you have built around yourself. it's painful to let go, but not the letting go is painful.

i see so many of us keeping ourselves from being a force of nature by retreating into small dark holes. let's take a breath

Stuck scrolling? Try this:
Look away from the screen you are reading this on. Look around your environment and locate the farthest point away from you, look at that space and breathe, inhale and exhale three times.
Look back to the screen, did you miss anything while looking away? Look again to the farthest point away from you. Breathe for 3 breaths again.
Is there anything else you want to do NOW?

Instead of streaming, give this a try once in a while. Harmen Hoek on YouTube. He hikes around the world and his videos are just amazing. They take you out of your head for a bit as he explores parts of the world some of us may never see. Attached is one of his videos. If you can watch it on your tv, all the better #television #hiking #nature #Relaxation #mindfulness

#Sati, often translated as #mindfulness, is a central concept in #Buddhism rooted in recollection and ethical attentiveness. Unlike secular mindfulness, sati is embedded in the #EightfoldPath, guiding toward insight and liberation by integrating memory, ethical conduct & meditative clarity. This post explores the historical and doctrinal significance of sati, contrasting it with modern interpretations that often overlook its deeper philosophical roots:

Once, when I was right and the other person was wrong, I shut my mouth and followed some advice I’d heard where you ask them to tell you more about how they came to their conclusion.

They did, and I learned that I had been operating on a false assumption. They were right after all, and I was wrong!

I must remember to ask that question more often.
