To make the RTX 50 series even worse, with some older games that use PhysX, a physics acceleration technology that NVidia acquired and the tech itself only works on NVidia GPUs, or otherwise on the CPU, which performs worse.

RTX 50 series apparently dropped support for 32-bit PhysX, thus enabling PhysX will perform poorly like AMD and Intel GPUs compared to a GTX 580. Installing an older NVidia GPU for use as a PhysX card fixes this issue.

This is really the downfall of proprietary solutions for extra effects, the company who created it will eventually drop support, thus older games will run poorly.

Thanks to #Nvidia you can now save some money as a retro gamer!
Just upgrade from an expensive, useless RTX 5080 to a shiny, price-efficient GTX 580 and enjoy higher framerates in your PhysX-enabled games! :thisisfine:

Of course the bad CPU code for PhysX they specifically wrote like shit to screw up ATI also never got updated. Have fun at cinematic 30 fps!

(Nvidia dropped PhysX support for 32bit applications, causing games to either run like trash or lose functionality)

Bold, if true. Basically the one thing that is amazing to me, is not the chiplet design, but that it's #RISCV based.

That is HUGE. #NVIDIA already has a RISC-V chip, but it's merely a microcontroller meant as a sort of hypervisor for the CUDA cores and the actual GPU cores, whereas this is the first RISC-V GPU - with a focus on realtime path-tracing.

#DeepSeek Proves It: #OpenSource is the Secret to Dominating #Tech Markets (and Wall Street has it wrong)
What news and commentariat are missing is massive opportunity DeepSeek has opened for open source and, the open movement. Too much is framed as #US vs #China and race for #AI. Too much is framed on DeepSeek training a powerful model on fraction of compute for fraction of cost means all large companies spending big bucks on #NVIDIA gear and training will be undercut.
