Bazzite/Linux Steam people, have you seen this? It would appear something to do with Steam Input plus Flatpak means a DualShock 4 doesn’t work correctly in some games. I’ve personally seen this with Ultimate Chicken Horse on Bazzite, but someone is reporting the same thing with Museum of All Things from Flathub:

@Sobieck

A reason I am an Atomic Fanboi....

View it as how our Phones work for OS updates or Chromebooks, A/B 1/2 type boot image partitions.

If anything goes bad on an update, I can easily rollback to my last deployed image.

Updating is also less painful.

App data is mostly separate, because embracing flatpak/etc.

I 🎮 on #Bazzite

TLDR custom Fedora Images with extra steps+community efforts out of box.

I started with Fedora KDE 32 back....whenever that was. Then tried Kinoite Beta 38 whenever that was. But #UniversalBlue images ended up being just right.

I went salted earth on windows when my W10 key refused to work on a new motherboard in ~2019, also because Linux fits my personal philosophy as well.

After my brother died, it also gave me some semblance of feeling in control of *something* in this mortal-coil. At least my PC.

I enjoy being a community member and not just a "user" of a corpo product. Proton+Steam Deck did sorta change the gaming landscape, I've been shilling for so long. 🤓🤘

Jorge has that magical energy:

If you really wanna dual boot.

I recommend having separate storage drives.

And use UEFI/BIOS to set Linux disk to boot priority #1.

Removes windows boot manager from the equation vs breaking on updates or fighting with grub.

Can also copy your font folder over if you really want.

I’ve been playing with one of my terrible Chromebooks again.

I might need to accept that #uBlueAurora is not the right fit for an underpowered laptop with 4GB RAM and 16GB eMMC drive.

It’s a shame because I want to run it on everything, I’m mildly obsessed. 😆 Oh well, time for some distro hopping! #linux #universalblue

@jorge I want to thank you and your team for the work you have done to your "son", I can tell you have given him a lot of love. Seeing your reflections in your last video I share the idea that "normal users", do not install OS and that their approach is towards developers in order to permeate and go to the mainstream public. Even so I appreciate as a user who only wants to occupy your computer to do normal things the effort you have put to get and use, after much searching and attempts to install the NVIDIA proprietary drivers with an environment with "Wayland+secureboot" I succeeded with your distro, I also worked in #ubuntu, but with #Bluefin was from the installation and these things that not many value help normal users, like me. I perfectly understand your vision towards developers but if you have time do not forget the normal users.
Honestamente agradecido.

finally got around to adding in default flatpaks as part of my ISO builds for Zeliblue, just like how Bluefin and Bazzite do it, so the first-boot experience on my image is a lot nicer now

that is only for the ISOs from the Github action, tho, which I don't (currently) provide public downloads for

for rebasers and otherwise, there's also now a `restore-default-apps` `just` command (also like Bluefin and Bazzite have) to do as the name suggests

did some more refactoring in Zeliblue related to adding the `testing` tags recently. I revamped what came with the BlueBuild template into a reusable build action w/ + separate stable and testing builds

`testing` builds daily + on commits to main (same as before)

`stable` images are now strictly built and pushed daily at a set time. I've thought about making them weekly instead a la Bluefin, but for now I prefer daily

davincibox users: I'm working on a refactor that, in theory, should fix multiple issues with using NVIDIA GPUs

anyone with an NVIDIA GPU that's willing to help test would be greatly appreciated, as I'm unable to test it myself. instructions here: github.com/zelikos/davincibox/

update: I've gotten confirmation that the changes work on NVIDIA on Bazzite, so I've merged the PR. testing still welcome as this is a big change, but no special instructions are needed now

Now Charlie has a new PC I’m reclaiming his old one (which is my old home server) to try daily driving #Aurora for work. It just feels tailor made for the kind of work I do.

Plasma 6 is so beautiful on my ultra-wide especially at 120hz which my Mac can’t do (at least not with the dongle I have). 😍

This machine is pretty old but will be fine for a proof of concept. I already accidentally got one of my colleagues on #Bluefin so I should take my own advice. 😁#universalblue getaurora.dev/

doing some quick benchmarks with and without the scx LAVD scheduler enabled, on my uBlue image with kernel 6.9.12-205.fsync.fc40 (same as Bazzite):

up first is Total War Warhammer 3's battle benchmark at 1080p, running on Proton 9.0-2

image 1 is without LAVD, image 2 is with

very similar average framerate, but a bit smoother in the latter?

I pull a lot of pieces from Bluefin and Bazzite for my custom uBlue image, but on my main PC I've only tested them in VMs, not bare metal

so, let's start with Bluefin

immediately, I prefer the cosmetic choices I have on Zeliblue (Inter font, vanilla GNOME icons, adw-gtk3-theme), but functionally everything is obviously very similar

their fastfetch config is really nice though and I def need to grab nautilus-open-any-terminal for my image

also, dinosaurs

I've merged my experimental COSMIC image into Zeliblue's main branch

it's still mostly experimental since COSMIC is still in alpha, but it does mean new builds will happen daily instead of only when I pushed to the initial PR

main changes I have for it vs upstream uBlue base image are including most of the GNOME apps I use in Zeliblue, to fill in the gaps in default apps that COSMIC has (such as a web browser or an audio/video player)
